Win 8 or Mac Mt Lion or Win 2012 for LMS, any gotchas on either platform

Hello,

I am currently running lms on a synology ds 412+.

But I am thinking about buying either a Mac mini or a windows based htpc.

Are there any gotchas with compatibility which would sway me to go in either direction?
