I've read about this before but never experienced it until last night. I played a single track and about three seconds from the end I heard a two second burst of high volume white noise. I tried a few more tracks, some had the same problem, others did not but the white noise was reproducible every time on the affected tracks. All the tracks I tried were FLAC. Since this had never happened to me before I couldn't understand what was going on. Something made me check the Audio Crossfade settings and "Fade In Fade Out" was selected. when I set this to "None" the white noise vanished.
This seems to be a fairly serious bug which has existed for a long time and I am quite surprised more people have not complained about it. I have not tried the other options except "crossfade" which never seemed to cause any problems. I experienced these problems on a Touch and I have not tried the same settings on a Radio.
