Troubleshooting Random Pops During Playback

How would one start the tedious process of troubleshooting random pops during playback? I have a hunch that my current issue is with the Powerline Adapter being used for networking on my LMS 7.8 machine. So, I will be incorporating a MOCA adapter (it's on the way) to try that. But I wanted to ask the collective mind anyway.
My LMS community consists of:

  • W7 PC running LMS 7.8 (Powerline Network Adapter)
  • Local Player Plugin on LMS PC
  • 1 SB2 (wired)
  • 2 SB3s (wifi)
  • 1 VAMP (wired)
  • All syncronized. :D

I've noticed a seemingly random pop during playback which sounds like a blip of DC at each amplifier's output. This happens with every playback device in use, so it must be related to LMS or the LMS PC. The only thing I see in the server log file is the vague "select.pm line 150" error that's been happening for ages anyway, before I noticed the pops. The pops happen in the middle of FLAC songs, and during internet streams (MP3/OGG/AAC...), but not when playback is paused or stopped. I also downloaded a "silence" WAV file that's 32 minutes long, but didn't notice the pops while playing that file. Curious.

Anyhoo, I'm hoping making the MOCA switch will render this moot. Has anyone else run an LMS server through Powerline adapter(s)?
Thanks!
