Files Won't Play on SB2 But Play in VLC

I ripped to FLAC 'Shostakovich 24 Preludes and Fugues, Op 87' on Naxos 8.554745-46. When I try to play on my SB2, the screen goes dark and there is no sound. I have to delete the playlist then toggle power to get SB2 back to normal. There is no log entry to indicate a problem with files. The files play fine in VLC.

Hello,
I have trouble getting LMS to run on my machine running an up to date version of Arch Linux Amd64.
The package installs OK using
aur-get -sy logitechmediaserver-git
I enable the unit using
systemctl enable logitechmediaserver-git
reboot
Systemctl is-enabled logitechmediaserver-git

Problem:
Neither the players can connect nor the web UI is reachable.

There's nothing to delete in the Boom's config. Are you sure all devices
are connected to the same LMS? What LMS version are you running?

Streaming Remotely LMS files won't play but streaming services work

$

I know this has probably been covered before, but I have found that I cannot stream music from MyMusic to a remote player (squeezelite) if I am on my works network, I can connect to the players just fine, I can play radio stations and streaming services fine, but MyMusic doesn't work. I have verified that it is my works network because everything works fine when I connect via my phones Internet connection though WiFi. It appears to start playing but there is no sound when this happens.

I am not using VPN or SSH yet, so I am wondering is this is a port issue (do I need port 9090) or will SSH work, or what else.

Relative paths in playlists

$

I've recently switched LMS from my old Mac mini to a Raspberry Pi 3B+. None of my playlists work, because the paths are different between the Mac and the Rpi. I'm quite happy working my way through the playlist files to do a global find and replace. But I'm wondering if I can future-proof this a little bit by making the paths relative rather than absolute.

If I have a disk mounted as /mnt/Audio, and on that disk I have a folder called 'Music' and a folder called 'Playlists', then can any playlists in the Playlists folder refer to music files in the Music folder as file:../Music ? I can't seem to make this work, but referring to file:///mnt/Audio/Music works fine. What do those three slashes in front of 'mnt' do, and how many of them should I have before '../Music'?

Supplementary question - if it IS possible to get LMS to *understand* relative paths somehow, is it also possible to make LMS *write* relative paths when it creates or modifies playlists? If not, there wouldn't really be much point in moving my old playlists to relative paths because new playlists would always be absolute, and I'd get in a right mess.

I've stopped doing nightly builds when there are no changes. I should
probably stop the download page from going red about it.

LMS cannot open and play links under Radio

$

I just installed Squeezeboxserver at Dietpi OS version 6.8. The hardware is Raspberry PI 2 B. The Squeezelite client is running at another Beaglebone Black sbc. When I tried to click Radio > Music > Blues Music > Stations (26 +), LMS cannot open the Stations link under the Chrome browser and the browser refreshes forever. Clicking the Stations link also causes LMS to lose connection with Squeezelite. I have to issue "systemctl restart squeezeboxserver" at Putty to regain back LMS.

Has anyone encountered this issue and please help me? I have also installed alsa, gistreamer1.0-alsa, xserver to the rpi.

Raspberry Pi 3B+ Woes

$

I would like to install LMS on my Raspberry Pi 3B+ which is fitted with a HiFiberry DAC+ and a 7" touch screen. My goal is to get the Jivelite interface running so that I can use it as a digital media player on my home stereo playing local audio files on a USB drive.

I have been having a lot of trouble installing it on Raspbian Stretch.

I've tried the debian packages for 7.9.1, 7.9.2, and the nightly builds for 7.9... none of them will install. I get the error "libio-socket-ssl-perl is not installed."

I also tried an early build (version 7.7 I think) and this installed and ran but the service log showed that LMS was constantly restarting and it was not possible to access the interface on port 9000.

Is it even possible to install it on the Pi 3B+ ? I read a post somewhere that the ARM chip has a Perl conflict. I'm a complete Linux newbie, so this is very frustrating.

I saw a suggestion somewhere that running buildme.sh might work... but I have absolutely no idea how to do that.

Any help would be appreciated enormously.

Cheers!

Did you even try to figure out why this should not be possible? Because...

Max2Play _is_ Stretch with some glue:

That's what the prefpane would do. Is there anything in server.log? If
you set LMS to start at system startup, would you have
/Library/LaunchDaemons/Squeezebox.plist?

DLNA problem: 401 Unauthorized

$

Hi all,

I'm running Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.1 - 1508904967 on a
Debian GNU/Linux unstable box for years. I'm successfully using
ShairTunes and now I wanted to get streaming from Windows 10 via DLNA
media streaming working as well.

I've activated Andy Grundman's UPnP/DLNA Media Interface (v1.0) and
also set the UPnP/DLNA-Client to "Yes, search for UPnP/DLNA media
servers" (whatever the English dropdown entry is called).

However, when I use the "Send to <Touch>" submenu from Windows File
Explorer, the media window on Windows opens, the Touch in question
displays the track metadata, but then I get a popup "401 Unauthorized".

The server.log has multiple entries:

Slim::Plugin::RemoteLibrary::UPnP::ControlPoint::_ gotError (279) Error
retrieving device description: 404 Not Found

What am I missing?

Greetings,
Stefan

Random Mix Problems

$

Hi guys,

I just came back to lms in combination with the picoreplayer after serveral years using another audio straming solution. Everything runs smoothly and I am happy to see that there still is an active community.

There is just one problem which is very annoying:
Whenever I want to start a random mix (no matter if song, album, artist or years) the server becomes completely unresponsive for a several minutes and I cannot access the webinterface + playback stops.
Then the server restarts automatically and when it comes back it actually created a random playlist consisting of 10 tracks but does not start to play it unless I start it manually.

I installed LMS 7.9.1 on my server:
Ubuntu Linux 16.04.2
Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU 330 @ 1.60GHz, 4 cores
4GB ram
So there should be enough power.

My library is big (500gb+) and messy but I do not think that's the problem. If I go to random albums from the main menu it takes only a second to give me a list of albums. Also searching the library is extremly fast. I have 0 performance problems except when I try to start random playback.
I tried to change many different settings, deleted the cache and libray, uninstalled all unused plugins but the problem persits.
Also I could not find any clues in the logfiles.
Any ideas what might be the problem? Maybe I should try running an older server version?

Check out server.log. There's a "presets" entry for every player. Don't
edit the file while LMS is running. Make a backup before you modify it.

> 3) a CLI command to achieve this, which could be programmed onto an Sbpd
> button?

There is a CLI command which is not documented. Don't know why. Might be:

00:04:20:... jivefavorite add title:MyRadio
url:http://myradio.com/listen icon:http://myradio.com/icon.png type:audio

Haven't tested this, but that's what I understand from the code.

Error 403 Remote DDNS Access Denied

.
This is probably going to be a Michael question:

Changes to LMS that Blocks DDNS Remote Access to ones Local Settings Page is impacting how certain users use LMS and Squeezebox remotely. Is there a means possible to place this Blocking feature in LMS "Settings" with a default setting of ON so that people not needing it to be OFF are protected, yet those that choose to and need to turn it off can?

I am speaking about the updates added to recent 7.9.1 distributions:

"And security:
Update IO::Socket::SSL on Windows to improve compatibility with newer SSL standards.
Improve support for SSL protected communication. Use https to log in to mysqueezebox.com if possible.
Block access to settings pages from outside the local network.
Fix several XSS vulnerabilities in the web UI."

Anybody have ideas of local user workaround? Is this Possible, Thoughts, Ideas?

I'm not sure I understand. Are you using our tarballs and the binaries
in there? Or are you shipping custom built modules? Is the Perl version
a standard QNAP module or do you install this?

I'm asking because it seems as if there was a conflict of some of the
installed binary/ies (Image::Scale so far). The version numbers
mentioned don't match anything I believe we include.

> Is it possible to do that withe LMS?

yes

> Is there a Plug-In?

Not that I'm aware of.

> Or do you have any other thoughts?

Cool idea. Get your hands dirty :-).

You'd have to somehow identify an item (album/artist/track) by some id.
In LMS' favorites we use either the file's path (single track) or the
simplified title/name for albums and artists. That search term can be
found in LMS database in the titlesearch or namesearch columns
respectively. Yes, this fails if you happen to have two albums of the
exact same name (eg. "Up", "Best Of"). But I assume for the few albums
for your daughter this should be good enough.

Have the Pi recognize that identifier, send a "playlist play {url}"
command to LMS.
