How-To Troubleshoot Excessive CPU Usage - Plugin issue

Disable half of the installed plugins.

Fixed? Re-enable half of the disabled plugins.
Not fixed? Disable half of the remaining enabled plugins.

Repeat until you're back to normal. Re-enable everything but the suspect.

Unfortunately this is the only way to go.

Or almost: if you're really into it, then you could install NYTProf and
run LMS with it. There's some hotkey or something defined somewhere to
enable/disable profiling. This would allow you to enable profiling as
soon as problems arise. The resulting data _might_ help you. But then
NYTProf is not suitable to be enabled all the time. It generates a lot
of data and slows down LMS.

Disabling plugins might be much easier, even if it takes more time.

How-To Clear cache of discovered players, and the ramifications of doing so

Hi,

One of the plugins I have started using is showing a large number of disconnected players. This makes sense because I have many, many spares, plus all the software players I've tinkered with over the last several years.

So as the title says,
  1. How do you clear cache of discovered players?
  2. What are the ramifications of doing so with regard to LMS and the various plugins?

Can't browse by albums

Hello.

I just installed LMS 7.9.1 Beta on my Synology DS718+. The option to browse music by albums is missing from the web interface (see attached). Please could anyone help? Thanks.

There are no other problems related to the scanning process, it runs fine and finds all my music. There also no disc related problems I'm aware of (no errors on sdd, enough free space). RAM is on Maximum and I see no excessive memory usage in Windows taskmanager while scanning. It might be sqlite-related.

Any hint? Thanks in advance...

Smart TV's Web Browser not able to load LMS Web Control Page ........................

I have a few Samsung Smart TVs with Web Browser and when I pull up the IP address of the LMS running on my network, the screen turns the LMS Green and indicates that "Logitech Media Server is Loading" but the icon keeps spinning and it never loads... This happens on the 2 TVs I have tried on my network. Anyone know why it won't load?

Adding media from network drive to 'My Music' in LMS

Hi there!

I would like to ask if it is possible to add media from a remote location (i.e. network drive/NAS) to the 'My Music' Tab in LMS. I sort of made it happen by mounting the network drive to a directory within the server pc that hosts LMS. But this is very tedious and every time I reboot the server, I will need to mount the network drive again. Is there any workaround for this?

Can't search a particular album with Tidal or Spotty

I can't seem to bring up this album in a search "Eagles-Hell Freezes Over". I searched on the Spotify and Tidal web interfaces and had no trouble finding it.

Drops in sound when playing Apple Lossless

Hi, I'm new to this forum and the Squeezebox family in general. I've been running LMS and some Squeezeboxes for about a week now. First I had LMS installed on my Synology DS216se but performance was lagging. Large playlist were impossible to play and the system was slow in general.

So I installed LMS on an old laptop I had laying around. An HP elitebook 8460p. It has an i5-2520M with 4GB of ram and a 500GB 7200rpm hard drive. Plenty of power so I thought.

Browsing in general is faster then it was with the NAS and loading large playlists isn't a problem anymore.

I do however still have problems with playing Apple Lossless. Most of my collection is in high bitrate MP3 but I do have a number of albums in ALAC. When I try to play any of these songs I get constant drops in music. I tried disabling converting to FLAC so it would convert to PCM but with the same result. Stil got a drop about every 10 seconds. The drop usualy also lasts about 10 seconds. So listening to this music is basicly impossible.

I tried changing some stuff in the performance tab in advanced settings on LMS.

Memory is set to high since the laptop has 4GB
Serverpriority is set to -16 High since the laptop is only used as server, nothing else
Scannerpriority is also set to -16 High
Playlist length is set to 2500

Nothing changed. Dropouts are still present.

When I looked at the performance of the laptop I noticed that the processor almost never exeeds 10% when playing those Apple Lossless files. Memory sits at 50% and there is barely any hard-drive activity. So it seems LMS isn't using any of the power the laptop has for transcoding these files. Are there some other setting I can change for transcoding ALAC to FLAC or PCM. The laptop should be able to do this with ease.

My setup is:
Server: HP Elitebook 8460p thru ethernet
2x Squeezebox Classic on Wifi
Minix Android box with SqueezePlayer on wifi
PC with Squeezelite-x thru ethernet

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Filtering & ordering

good morning everybody and thanks for all the support i receveid through these years...it means a lot!
that's my point, today: is there a way, on the web interface, to filter my whole collection by one (or two, if possible) gennres and then order this selection by date added? or maybe year?
i searched around the forum but without specifically luck...

CLI does not see LMS's proper IP?

Hi,

I'm running the latest nightly LMS 7.9.2 on Windows Server 2012R2. It gets the fixed IP 192.168.1.2 from the router.

For example, the UPNP bridge plugin knows about this IP

The only peculiar thing about the machine on which the server runs is that there are 4 Ethernet ports on the motherboard, of which only one is connected. I've specifically opened up port 9090 on the motherboard and things like iPeng has always worked fine.


How can I trouble shoot this? Philippe44 suggests this may be leading to problems with his plugin.

Opensuse Leap 15 & LMS

I upgraded my Opensuse Leap 42.3 server to Leap 15 but now LMS (latest nightly) doesn't start anymore. The error message isn't really helpful.
Anybody here using Leap 15 as well and got a solution for this?

downsampling files beyond 96/24 on the fly

Hello,

I have searched the forum before posting my particular question but couldn’t find a clear answer as most of those threads I found were related to old Logitech hardware like SBT.

I have LMS running on a NAS streaming audio to an RPi with picoreplayer. Picoreplayer again feeds audio via SPDIF HAT to an old R2R DAC which accepts 96/24 maximum.

My library has only very few highres files (most of it being CD resolution), nevertheless I would like to have LMS on my NAS downsample all files beyond 96/24 in such way on the fly: 192/24 to 96/24 and 176.4/24 to 88.2/24 and everything else being left untouched.

Is there a setting available in LMS to do just that? Or do I have to change some config files as I read in some SBT related threads?

P.P.S. picoreplayer is set to prefer PCM streams as input in case that should matter

Problem with Pandora and Chromecast

The short version of my story is that Pandora playing to an audio Chromecast dongle will stop playing after a song or two. The controller indicates that the song is still playing (the playing indicator, rather than paused or stopped, is showing) and it is at or near the end of the current song. I am running LMS 7.9.1 on Windows 10. Playing a Pandora station through SqueezeLite or SB player on an Android device seems to work fine.

Longer story: after many, many years my Duet reciever finally gave up the ghost after being quite flakey for several months. I replaced the power supply and wifi board to no avail. I was thrilled when I came back here and found new LMS software and the Chromecast bridge, so that has been the route I have been persuing. Everything works brilliantly except Pandora. I just upgraded my Pandora account to Pandora Plus, but then ran into this problem. It will play one or two songs and then stop playing. If I go press stop and then play again, it will start back up and repeat the behavior. I have tried this using both the Duet hardware and various software controllers.

Has anyone else run into this? Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

7.92 has changed my Artists listing

Since the update, my Artist list seems to also include Composers, and maybe Album Artists. I do not want this. How do I revert to the behavior of listing Artists only?
The Web interface lists Artists correctly, but my Transporters include the other categories.
There are NO Additional Browse Modes defined.

Player not found

Having read many other threads... my problem is still not solved.. In short: I have a local server and a RaspberryPi (3) with piCorePlayer on it.

I have LMS 7.9 running on my own (local) server with Centos 7. I used to following guide to install this

and used this resource to download LMS

Now LMS cant find the devices... I did setup piCorePlayer properly, and pointed towards my ip address with the right port. The two devices can also ping to eachother without any problem.
I have tried to setup the Pi over Wifi to connect to the LMS, and also via a ethernet cable... both with no luck so far...

I have restarted both devices to see if that did any good.. but no..

I tried to learn how to use the LMS command line (with TCP I assume), but I did not get that hang of that. Therefore, I feel at a loss now, I don't know where to look anymore.

The only strange thing that I havent resolved yet is this output of the server

Using the default of SSL_verify_mode of SSL_VERIFY_NONE for client
